Services & Fees

AISSM therapists provide support, education, and empowering advice across a wide range of sexual health concerns. At AISSM, we understand that addressing these sensitive matters requires a safe and confidential environment. That’s why we offer private individual and couples counselling sessions at our conveniently located office in East Melbourne, Victoria or online via Telehealth, phone or messaging therapy. Our sessions provide a personalised experience where you can comfortably share your concerns and receive expert guidance from our highly trained sexologists.

In addition to our in-person sessions and online sex therapy options, we are pleased to offer Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist appointments. Our experienced Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists specialise in addressing painful sex, continence concerns, pelvic floor dysfunction, such as pelvic pain, bladder or bowel issues, and birth and postpartum concerns. Through targeted assessment and evidence-based treatments, our Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists can help improve your pelvic health and overall well-being.

Modalities of Therapy

In our ongoing mission to cater to all patrons, we have adapted multiple therapy options that we believe will make our services even more accessible and diverse:

  1. In Person Sessions: In our in-person therapy or physiotherapy sessions, we create a personalised and supportive environment where you can openly discuss your concerns and receive expert guidance from our highly trained sexologists and physios. We understand that sharing deeply personal issues may feel overwhelming, which is why we prioritise creating a comfortable space for you to express yourself. Our dedicated team will attentively listen to your needs, providing you with a safe and confidential setting to explore and address your sexual health concerns. Through these face-to-face sessions, we aim to empower you on your journey towards enhanced sexual well-being, ensuring that you receive the personalised care and attention you deserve.
  2.
  3. Online (via Video or Phone): Our online therapy sessions provide convenient and accessible options for remote counselling. Whether through video calls or phone conversations, you can connect with our experienced therapists from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Online therapy ensures the same level of professional support and guidance as our in-person sessions, eliminating travel and geographical limitations.
  4.
  5. Typed Messaging Therapy: We acknowledge that opening up about deeply personal issues can sometimes feel intimidating. To offer an alternative, less confrontational form of communication, we’re offering 50-minute typed messaging therapy sessions. With this innovative approach, you can engage in therapy from the comfort of your own home or any private space that suits you. Typed messaging therapy allows you to express your thoughts and feelings through written messages, providing you with the opportunity to carefully articulate your experiences at your own pace. Our highly trained sexologists will respond to your messages with empathy, support, and professional guidance, helping you navigate through your concerns and explore various aspects of your sexual well-being. This convenient mode of therapy ensures flexibility in scheduling, enabling you to fit sessions into your busy lifestyle. Whether you prefer to reflect on your thoughts before sharing or find it easier to express yourself through writing, typed messaging therapy offers a safe and confidential platform for self-expression and therapeutic exploration.
  6.
  7. 30-Minute Sessions: These sessions, designed by our experienced therapist Aleeya, are aimed at new patients who may not require a full therapy session but still seek guidance and advice. These could also be incredibly beneficial for practitioners seeking professional development, business consulting, or individuals with specific questions about sex and relationships. Please note that these sessions will be available on a discretionary basis to individual clients only. Aleeya will make a professional assessment during the initial session to determine if this format is appropriate for you.

Cancelllations:

Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. If you cancel an appointment with less than 48 hours notice, you will incur a late fee of 100% of the appointment fee.

FAQ'S

What is a sexologist?

A sexologist is someone who studies the science of sexual health and how it makes you feel. Having spent years intensively studying human behaviour and sex, a sexologist can provide you with a clearer understanding of your own unique sexuality, as well as empowering you with the knowledge and confidence to lead a healthy sex life. AISSM sexologists are experts on sexual health and wellbeing and are able to guide you through the physical, mental and social aspects of your sexual wellness.

What can I/we see a sexologist for?

You can see a sexologist for a wide range of sexual health concerns, including desire and arousal difficulties, intimacy and communication problems, erectile dysfunction, painful intercourse, LGBTQ+ sexual health, sexual trauma or abuse, relationship and sexual satisfaction, and sexual education and empowerment. Sexologists provide support, guidance, and evidence-based interventions to help you address these issues and improve your sexual well-being. They offer a safe and confidential space for healing, education, and empowerment, tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.

What happens in therapy?

During your first meeting with your AISSM therapist, they will get to know you by talking through a number of topics including your physical health, childhood/family beliefs about gender and sexuality, current and past relationships, and more. During this session you will be asked to be open and honest about your relationships, sexual activities, and sexual concerns.

The key to successful therapy is being open and honest with your practitioner. All conversations with your therapist are confidential and judgement-free. At the end of your first session your therapist will set homework and exercises to work on outside of your therapy time.
